GUIDED CONVOY NR.1 : FROM BOVEC TO PULA

Starting point : Treviso airport

Finishing point : Treviso airport

Venice – Bovec

Traveling with convoys from Venice to Bovec and accommodation. Taking a walk there to see some interesting places for each of us. Then sleeping and next day traveling to Postojna  cave.

1. day : Postojna cave

postojnaThe Postojna Cave system is the largest known cave system in Slovenia. There are longer caves in the world, but a visit to a cave such as Postojna deserves full attention due to the diversity of shapes, expensive cave areas, stalactite and stalagmite formations and water characteristics. What is especially noteworthy is that most of these various shapes and formations can be seen by every visitor, meaning tourists and not just cavers with special caving equipment. Well kept paths for tourists comprise the greater part of Postojna Cave, making it a "horizontal" cave. Thus a visit to the cave does not present any difficulties for most visitors.

After that we will take some time to have lunch and go to small shops near Postojna cave. Then we will go back to Bovec.

2. day : Bovec

bovecThe land of Bovec covers a territory stretching from Triglav Slovenia's highest peak, to the banks of the Soča, the most exquisite of Slovenia's rivers; from Vršič, the highest road pass, to Mangrt the mountain with the highest road in Slovenia; from reclusive Zadnja Trenta to the unusual Srpenica Gorge.

There you have a lot of possibilities to spend your time in nature. You can just take a walk or go horseback riding, trekking, kayaking, canyoning, biking, fishing, tennis or paintball.

3. day : Rafting

rafting-socaWe will go to river Soča and spend some time there. Those who want to go rafting we will organise guided raft with mentors. Those who don’t want to go on raft can take a walk or maybe swim (if won’t be to cold).

After that picnic in nature.

4. day : Pula

Pula is the largest city in Istria County, Croatia, situated at the southern tip of the Istria peninsula, with a population of 62,080 (2006). Like the rest of the region, it is known for its mild climate, tame sea, and unspoiled nature. The city has a long tradition of winemaking, fishing, shipbuilding, and tourism. Pula has also been Istria's administrative center since ancient Roman times.

pulaThe city is best known for its many surviving ancient Roman buildings, the most famous of which is its first century amphitheatre, sixth largest in the world and locally known as the Arena. This is one of the best preserved amphitheatres from antiquity and is still in use today during summer film festivals. During the World War II Italian fascist administration, there were attempts to disassemble the arena and move it to mainland Italy, which were quickly abandoned due to the costs involved.

We will take a walk and see all the interesting sightsees in Pula. In the evening you will have time to go in some bars or just enjoy the sunset.

Testimonials

Me and my family we are real enthusiasts for holidays in a motor home. We had travelled nearly all over Europe, greater part of Croatian coast from Dubrovnik to Split and Rijeka and so this year we decided to see Istria. Via the airport in London we took a non-stop flight to Pula. Having been very satisfied with Rudolfmoto and their motor home we had travelled by the previous year in Dalmatia we made the arrangement for hiring a motor home with the same firm again. So a brand-new and flawless motor home waited for us at the airport in Pula. We started our journey along the western coast of Istria past the town of Rovinj towards Poreč and further on all the way to Umag and Grožnjan, this one being a very nice little town of artists we immediately took a fancy to it. Then we took a direct route across Istria, drove through the tunnel of Učka straight to Rijeka and continued our way along the eastern Istrian coast to Pula where we stayed at auto camp Indije and spent the most wonderful holidays. We left the motor home at the airport in Pula and took the flight to London and then back home. Being very satisfied with Rudolfmoto for the second time we made a reservation for a motor home for next year when we plan to see some Croatian islands.
